Elpriser import i Simatic WinCC Unified
In some production companies, it is possible to schedule different parts of the production depending on the price of electricity. This means that an electricity demanding production can be carried out at times when the electricity price is lowest, which can result in large savings on the budget. The planning can e.g. be performed in a PLC calculation routine or similar software. The hourly price must therefore necessarily be made available, for e.g. a PLC program, which can be realized via WinCC tag values.
"Elpriser" is a specially developed application that provides quick and easy daily access to Kwh/Mwh hourly prices in Denmark, and stores the prices as hourly values in WinCC tags.
The application handles the following scenarios:
- Extracts Kwh/Mwh prices every hour from the data hub at "https://www.elprisenligenu.dk".https://www.elprisenligenu.dk”.
- Stores the hourly price values directly in 24 specified WinCC tags in WinCC RT.
- Stores the date to which the values belong in a WinCC tag.
- Stores the date/time of the last update in a WinCC tag.
- Prices can be drawn for both west and east of the Great Belt in Denmark.
Method of operation
After installing the application, the user must do the following:
- Create 24 WinCC tags for storing Kwh/Mwh hourly prices.
- Create 2 WinCC tags for storing relevant date/time information.
- Configure the software in a simple text file.
- Manually start a Windows service.
The application has been developed as a Windows service that automatically connects to the WinCC Runtime system. The service runs hidden in the background, and once the configuration is done, the user no longer has to worry about the service program. Everything then runs automatically, even after restarting the PC.
Software requirements
The application is released for:
- Simatic WinCC Unified Runtime V17 – V19
The application requires Windows 64-bit operating system and that .NET Framework V4.7.2 or higher is installed on the PC.
